Emmé by Lola at WOMADE Berlin – A New Space for Independent Design and Craftsmanship

A new chapter for Emmé by Lola: Since May 2026, our jewellery brand has been part of WOMADE Berlin, a concept store at Bikini Berlin that brings together independent design, craftsmanship and creative women entrepreneurs.

More Than Just a New Location

Some projects begin with an idea. Others grow from encounters between people who share similar values and a common vision.

WOMADE Berlin brings both together.

Since opening in May 2026, WOMADE has created a new home for independent design brands at Bikini Berlin. For Emmé by Lola, it represents more than an additional place to discover our jewellery collections. It is also an opportunity to actively shape a collective project that reflects many of our own values.

Because WOMADE is about more than beautiful products. It is about creativity, craftsmanship, personal stories and the people behind independent brands.

WOMADE Berlin – Not Another Concept Store

Behind WOMADE are three women entrepreneurs from different creative backgrounds, brought together by a shared vision.

Tania Varela, founder of Tania Varela Ceramics, creates handcrafted ceramics and shares her passion for working with clay through creative workshops.

Wambui, founder of Wambui Designs, brings traditional textile craftsmanship into a contemporary design context. Her work places particular emphasis on cultural heritage, high-quality materials and fair production practices.

María Rodríguez Ponce, goldsmith and founder of Emmé by Lola, creates contemporary jewellery that brings together traditional goldsmithing techniques, digital technologies and responsibly sourced materials.

From these different creative disciplines came the idea of establishing a shared space where independent brands could preserve their individual identities while learning from one another and growing together.

Today, WOMADE brings together a carefully curated selection of jewellery, ceramics, fashion, textiles, accessories and design objects.

Each brand contributes its own story, distinctive creative language and unique production processes.

What connects them is a shared appreciation for independent design, creativity and the craftsmanship behind every product.

A Diversity of Independent Brands and Creative Ideas

WOMADE Berlin brings different design worlds together under one roof, inviting visitors to discover the diversity of independent brands.

The selection ranges from contemporary jewellery made with responsibly sourced materials to handcrafted ceramics, distinctive home accessories, fashion, bags, textiles and carefully selected design objects.

Alongside the collections of the three founders — Emmé by Lola, Tania Varela Ceramics and Wambui Designs — other independent labels, including Einzelstück Berlin, TRAQART and Codes of Eden, contribute to the store's creative offering.

Each brand brings its own perspective on design, materials and craftsmanship. Together, they create a diverse selection of products distinguished not only by their aesthetic qualities but also by the individual stories and creative processes behind them.

The collection is complemented by changing pop-ups, introducing new creative perspectives and making WOMADE a place where there is always something new to discover.

Meet the People Behind the Creations

In an increasingly digital world, we believe that personal connections are becoming more valuable than ever.

At WOMADE, visitors can do more than discover products. They can also explore the stories behind them.

How is a piece of jewellery created? What inspires a ceramic collection? How can traditional textile techniques be interpreted through contemporary design?

Through events, workshops, temporary pop-ups and personal encounters, we aim to offer insights into the creative processes of the brands represented in the store.

A wonderful example was our Meet the Makers Day on 10 October 2026. Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to meet the designers personally, learn more about their working processes and discover the diversity of creative brands at WOMADE.

Encounters like these reflect what we hope to achieve with WOMADE: a vibrant space where design is not only presented but also experienced.

Emmé by Lola: Contemporary Jewellery with a Conscious Approach

For Emmé by Lola, WOMADE offers a wonderful opportunity to introduce our jewellery collections to a wider audience in Berlin.

Our work combines traditional goldsmithing techniques with contemporary digital design tools. We place particular importance on responsibly sourced materials, including Fairmined-certified gold and silver, as well as carefully selected gemstones.

Every piece is created with the intention of bringing together timeless design, craftsmanship and a conscious approach to the use of resources.

At WOMADE, our customers can now discover the collections in person, try on different pieces, appreciate their details up close and learn more about the materials and processes involved in their creation.

We believe that jewellery becomes even more meaningful when we understand not only the finished piece but also the story behind it.

Growing Together While Remaining Independent

Building and developing an independent design brand involves taking on many different responsibilities, from creative development and production to communication, sales and organisation.

WOMADE was also born from the desire to approach some of these challenges together.

The collaboration between three entrepreneurs from different creative disciplines demonstrates how valuable it can be to share experiences, ideas and resources.

It is not about giving up individual differences. On the contrary, the diversity of perspectives, working methods and creative approaches is precisely what gives WOMADE its character.

For Emmé by Lola, co-founding this project represents more than a business decision. It reflects a belief that independence and community do not have to be opposites.

Sometimes, the most exciting new possibilities emerge through exchange, collaboration and a shared commitment.
